Horse Art Portrait Sessions!

What are Horse Art Portrait Sessions, you might be asking?  I’m privileged to be a horse owner, and as time has gone on, it has occurred to me that horse owners needed a very special way of portraying their beloved equine friends.  These loyal, smart animals give us so much joy and teach us so much!  I began to think about how I wanted to portray these beautiful animals, and realized that while photos are nice, there is an artistic element to the animals that really is calling out to be displayed.  So, I’ve developed a unique process I call Horse Art Portraits.  I take the photos first, then view the images, and allow what I see to percolate in my mind for a while, taking into account the personality of the horse.  When I’m ready, I then go to work on my chosen photograph, sometimes digitally painting it, sometimes applying artistic brushwork, sometimes a combination.  I use Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop CC 2015, Topaz Labs filters and Particle Shop plugins to create these works.  Most of the time they are then printed as canvas wrap prints, in sizes ranging from 30 inches wide up.  Here are a few samples:
